V-Tex: The sustainable alternative to modern commercial refrigeration
The hospitality and retail industries are seeking new and innovative ways to reduce environmental impacts while increasing energy and cost efficiencies. Traditional commercial refrigeration systems consume vast amounts of energy inefficiently, meaning bars restaurants and retailers run up unnecessarily huge bills. These units still rely on refrigerants with high global warming impacts. V-Tex Standalone technology enables a more energy- and space-efficient alternative, providing rapid chilling on demand so businesses can meet customer demand while reducing environmental impact and energy costs.
The challenge
- 35%: commercial refrigeration accounts for 35% of total refrigerator emissions globally
- Traditional commercial refrigeration still relies heavily on the use of HFCs, which contribute to global warming
The V-Tex solution
- 18% more efficient cooling, by using water as a coolant rather than air
- Uses up to 97% less standby energy than traditional open-door refrigerators
- Can chill a room temperature can to perfection in 60 seconds
- Flexible capacity and saves space
V-Tex Standalone in Action
BWS (Beer, Wine & Spirits) is one of Australia’s largest and most accessible liquor retailers, with nearly 1,400 stores nationwide. BWS introduced the V-Tex rapid beverage chilling system at its Sydney stores as part of a wider sustainability and innovation strategy. Since introduction, the store can now:
- Chill drinks in under three minutes
- Boost spontaneous purchases
- Saved energy and costs, with V-Tex up to 90% more energy-efficient than traditional open-display fridges
- Be more sustainable, with V-Tex using a natural refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3 vs the 1,000+ GWP of conventional refrigerants
“V-Tex is a sustainability win on all fronts. It’s up to 90% more energy-efficient than traditional open-display fridges, uses a natural refrigerant with a near-zero environmental impact, and helps us hit Endeavour Group’s targets for renewable energy and net-zero emissions.”
Scott Davidson, Managing Director at BWS
